Lookout Valley Band of Gold
Welcome to the homepage of the Lookout Valley Band of Gold! Our music department has many different performing ensembles which play at several different venues and concerts throughout the year! With six different ensembles, our hard-working and dedicated students are constantly developing and refining their musical skills with the goal of creating life-long musicians.
The following is a list of instrumental ensembles that Lookout Valley offers:
-Beginning Band: For students in sixth grade with little to no previous musical experience, this program is geared towards creating and developing musical foundations which will be carried through to the next grade level. Students in this program will learn the basics of good musicianship and instrumental performance.
-Intermediate Band: This ensemble is geared towards seventh and eighth grade students who have previously been in beginning band. This group continues to refine and develop musical skills garnered in the previous level. Students in this group also perform in both marching and jazz (optional) on an extracurricular basis. Students in this grade level will also perform at ETSBOA Concert Festival during the spring season.
-Advanced Band: For students in grades 9-12, this ensemble is geared towards continuing to develop musical skills introduced in other classes with the eventual goal being for students to be awarded scholarships to different schools across the southeast and receive a competitive music education comparable with NAfME national standards. These students participate in Jazz (optional) and the Lookout Valley Band of Gold. Students in this grade level will also perform at ETSBOA Concert Festival during the spring season.
-Lookout Valley Band of Gold: Perhaps our most visible performing ensemble, the Lookout Valley Band of Gold is our marching program. In it we work to develop the preparation, reputation, inspiration, dedication, and expectation that comes with performance in a superior ensemble. This group performs at competitions, football games, and parades in the community and in the Chattanooga area.
-Jazz Band: This ensemble is in its third season and will be performing at the Christmas Concert and Spring Concert. This group is optional, and has students in grades 7-12 on all instruments performing. Jazz band typically rehearses after school from 2:30-4:00 and is completely optional.
--Our students are represented in a variety of musical events throughout the southeast: ETSBOA Junior Clinic, ETSBOA Senior Clinic, Hamilton County Honor Band, Solo and Ensemble, and various performing ensembles (Chattanooga Youth Symphony Orchestra, Metro Musicians, etc.).
