Families and Students:

I want to share some important news as we gear up to welcome students back into the LVMHS building in just a few weeks.

First, LVMHS will not be a CEP site for the 22-23 SY. This means that only those that apply and are approved will receive free or reduced lunch. The applications do not roll over and all that have received free or reduced lunch in the past and need or expect to receive it must apply by following the link that is provided below. I would like to encourage all parents to fill out the on-line application for free and reduced lunch. It takes less than 5 minutes. You do not have to set up and account or create passwords, it is a simple six step process. With inflation being high, this is an easy way to help out the bottom line in your household. Even if you do not believe you will qualify, you can help your student by filling out the application as the school receives money from the federal government to specifically spend on students based on the percentage of free and reduced lunch students attending a school. Many families will be pleasantly surprised at the low threshold for approval for free and reduced lunch by applying. If a family is waiting on the application process to be finalized, their children will receive free lunch for the first thirty days of school to bridge the gap during the waiting process.

Second, the 22-23 SY dress code is posted on the school website under the Parents tab and it is posted on the LVMHS Facebook page. The only major change in dress coded for the 22-23 SY is hoodies will be approved attire. Please read the dress code and review it with your students before school begins.

Some exciting news to share - Tennessee legislation recently passed a new law allowing schools to run on a 10 point grade scale. All HCS schools grades 3-12 will switch over to this new grading system effective for 22-23 SY. This will greatly benefit HCS students, especially high school students in regard to GPA.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Tad Russell to LVMHS as the new Assistant Principal. Mr. Russell joins us with a wealth of experience. He served at Dalewood Middle, Soddy Daisy Middle and most recently at Howard Connect.

Last, we will be issuing lockers to all students for the 22-23 SY. Please look over the Student Handbook for the 22-23 SY, it is located under the patents tab on the school website. There is a new cell phone policy for MS students.

Please feel free to call or e-mail the school if you have any questions about the start of school. I will continue to share information and plans as they are ready.
